Commission & fees
Commission and fees: what you pay, who pays and the legal cap
We show the commission in JOD on every listing, within the limit set by the Real-Estate Offices Regulation. Here are the legal rule, our policy, a commission calculator and the Department of Lands and Survey fees.

The legal rule
Regulation No. 36 of 2021 amending the Real-Estate Offices Regulation (Art. 8, which replaced the text of Art. 10). Original Arabic text:
Summary in English (unofficial):
- Sale: 1% of the property's estimated value, shared between seller and buyer or paid by either, or as agreed between the office, seller and buyer; in every case no more than JOD 10,000 in total.
- Rent: 2% of the annual rent, shared between landlord and tenant or paid by either, max. JOD 1,000.
- Any other sale or registration transaction the office prepares at the Department of Lands and Survey: max. JOD 75.
We use the regulation's "written agreement" option: 2% paid by the buyer alone and nothing by the seller, so the total always stays within the JOD 10,000 cap. Without a written agreement the basic rule applies (1% of the estimated value). This is our reading of the text; it is under legal review.
Department of Lands and Survey fees on a sale
These are government fees, separate from the agency commission. We don't calculate them here because they are based on the department's estimated value.
- Property sales tax: 3%, paid by the seller.
- Registration fee for apartments: 0% on the first 150 m² (an exemption; its 2026 status is unconfirmed), and 3% on the area above 150 m², or 1.5% for first-time buyers.
- Non-Jordanians: 6% when the seller is a private person, 3% when it is a housing company, regardless of size. Ownership also needs official approval.
- The basis is the Department of Lands and Survey's estimated value, not the agreed price.
- Who pays the registration fee is agreed in writing between buyer and seller.
